Alexander & Baldwin Announces Manoa Marketplace Refresh
Exterior construction has begun to renovate Manoa Marketplace. The upgrades will modernize and refresh the neighborhood shopping center located in the heart of Manoa, adding new design elements, improving pedestrian flow, enhancing seating areas, and expanding its outdoor gathering places. Start of construction will commence this month and is slated for completion in fall 2023.
“Alexander & Baldwin is pleased to invest in Manoa Marketplace, a shopping center that has served the kama’aina community for four decades,” said Lance Parker, chief operating officer at A&B. “These center-wide improvements will provide a more enjoyable shopping and dining experience for our customers, add a fun play area for keiki, and create an environment where our tenant community can thrive.”
Since A&B purchased the center in 2016, it has spent the last several years prioritizing the upgrade of the property’s aging infrastructure, implementing energy-efficient projects, investing in sustainable cool re-roofing, replacing air conditioning units with eco-efficient systems, repaving the parking lot, and adding rideshare parking stalls.
The upcoming phase of improvements will focus on public-facing elements, such as refreshing the overall exterior façade, renovating the 2nd level balconies and restrooms, and installing energy-efficient lighting throughout the venue. In addition, new public amenities will include a prominent central staircase, numerous outdoor seating areas, refreshed signage, expanded landscaping with water-efficient irrigation, EV parking stalls, and a family-friendly plaza with a keiki play area.
